EILEEN MURPHY,
Sir, - I hope you will permit me the opportunity of thanking the Yeats family for their outstanding generosity to the Irish people. The family of W.B. Yeats donated his papers and library and now the family of Jack B. Yeats has gifted us with another extraordinary bequest.
Their patriotism should be generously acknowledged and it really behoves the State to think about setting up an honours system that would truly reflect a nation's gratitude and admiration. Something along the lines of the Légion d'Honneur, about which Nancy Mitford famously said, "I think it was so brilliant of Napoleon to have the same order for everybody." - Yours, etc.,
EILEEN MURPHY,
