Sir, - Recent reports in the media about Noreen Byrne, chairperson of the NWCI, have simply repeated the same old line that a woman who aspires to give women the CHOICE of independence from men, is necessarily anti men. They have paid no attention to the valuable nature of her involvement in the women's movement in Ireland.

Noreen has worked to increase the diversity of women represented by the women's movement and the NWCI, focusing on the needs of lone parents and marginalised women.
