Sir, – Our thanks to Rosita Boland for highlighting the beauty and charm of Lough Derg ("Lake people of Lough Derg", Weekend Review, July 3rd).

We would like to assure Rosita and her readers that the literary talent of Edna O’Brien is much cherished in her native Tuamgraney. Edna is the honorary president of our annual festival and each year her outstanding work is celebrated by the local community on many occasions. She is welcomed home on her many visits to East Clare. After two lost years due to Covid-19, all are welcome to join us in Tuamgraney for the June bank holiday weekend next year. – Yours, etc,
