Madam, – I write to acknowledge the tremendous efforts made by the Cork hurlers in Sunday’s game against Dublin. I was so proud to witness a Cork team playing with such heart and determination. Perhaps this team will be relegated at the end of the league campaign, perhaps they won’t win the Munster championship, but at least we now have a team who are proud to hurl for Cork and who are honoured to wear the red jersey.
The true hurling people of Cork have spoken and after the match the entire crowd delivered a standing ovation to these players. I am looking forward to next Saturday night when they take on Tipperary in the field of legends in Thurles. Let’s hope that we will witness the birth of some new Cork legends. Corcaigh abú! – Yours, etc,
