Irish Ferries and ‘WB Yeats’

Sir, – At least the name of the ship, the WB Yeats, is Irish. The ship was fabricated in Germany, is registered in Cyprus, and has an overseas crew. – Yours, etc,

DAVID MURNANE,

Dunshaughlin,

Co Meath.

Sir, – In response to Siobhan Walls’s letter (October 10th) concerning the competition for naming of the newest Irish Ferries vessel, my own suggestion to the company was “Maeve”, which I thought would encompass both a historical figure in the person of the queen of Connacht and the late beloved Maeve Binchy.

Alas, I gather I did not win! – Yours, etc,

DEE NEESON,

Killiney,

Co Dublin.
