Inner and centre
Sir, – I welcome the announcement of the “O’Connell Street and Moore Street redevelopment plan” (News, June 1st). This planned retail, living and office quarter is referred to by The Irish Times as being situated on “a large north inner city block”.
This site (on the main street of Dublin) is located in the city centre. The use of the pejorative term “inner city” should be discouraged as it alludes to an area that is neglected and in some way undesirable. Merrion Square is never defined as the “southeast inner city”. – Yours, etc,
