Sir, - I believe I am reasonably tolerant.
While waiting for a delayed flight recently, I noticed a fellow traveller, a white-haired priest of about 70, strolling up and down unobtrusively praying his rosary in one hand. Just before boarding I went to the toilet and noticed the priest about four urinals to my left. Over each urinal at head height was an advertising photograph of a couple kissing intimately. The scene left me with a mildly amusing mental image of "in-your-face" advertising.
I was reminded of that image when I saw the proposed advert for a gay magazine showing a photograph of two sportsmen kissing intimately. Where are we going?
"In-your-face" advertising is one thing, but we have lost all sense of decorum if such images are acceptable on billboards. I object. - Yours, etc.,
John Woods, Greenore, Co Louth.
