Sir, – I always look forward to Jen Hogan's articles but this week she made me laugh out loud ("One of my kids asked for a 'yes day'. My resolve is weakening", Health + Family, March 29th).
As the ninth in a family of 10, I could relate to everything she said. My mother used to say she had two families, the first six and us younger four, who she called “the scamps”.
As regards homework, we learned early that the older ones could help. We had to be careful though, as my eldest brother, who became a headmaster, actually taught you, whereas one of our older sisters would just give you the answer to get rid of you!
