Sir, - Last Friday's Late Late Show included a moving interview with Christy O'Connor Jnr and Charlie McGettigan on the tragic deaths of their sons, touching fibres of sorrow in all of us. Both men expressed simply but eloquently their unfathomable grief. Yet in our sympathy we might pause a moment and consider that other lives were snuffed out in both horrendous accidents.

The interview, unwittingly, gave the impression that the famous carry a greater burden of grief than the ordinary individual. Gay Byrne made fleeting reference to the others, but little else was said.

Consider the pain of the widow and her children, as they, perhaps, sat through the programme.

I do not wish to tread upon the sorrow of those grieving parents, but I question the wisdom of giving exposure to one person's grief to the almost total exclusion of others involved in the same tragedy. - Yours, etc., Pat O'Dwyer,
