Madam, - The recent announcement by Mr Noel Dempsey of grants for solar panels and pellet-burning stoves and boilers was most interesting.
Obviously timed to take attention away from the Green Party conference, it also struck me as another example of the inability of this Government to use joined-up thinking.
If the Minister were serious, surely he should have announced at the same time that his Government was ordering that all homes and housing developments started after this date must incorporate both these features. This would show serious intent and would save the need for such grants in the future.
But, maybe, Government leaders will wait until they get all the builders and developers into the tent of the next Galway Races. And then they'll tell them! - Yours, etc,
