Sir, – Eoin Ó Broin TD is cited as asserting, "I don't believe for a second Gerry either intended to cause hurt or offence to anybody" ("Sinn Féin TD calls for Gerry Adams to apologise for Christmas sketch", News, December 14th). This is with reference to Mr Adams's video with a seasonally dressed IRA slogan.
As Mr Ó Broin discounts intent, I guess that leaves us to puzzle over the causal factors: recklessness, ignorance or vanity? – Yours, etc,
