Madam, – How I enjoyed laughing at “the bicycle is a toy” letter from David Smith (April 24th). It was a joke, wasn’t it? Mr Smith should tell that one to the Chinese, the Indians, and indeed, the Dutch. They’d enjoy it as much as I did.
The bicycle is the ultimate way to get around: clean, quiet, environmentally friendly, healthy, and fast. Cyclists should be offered lots of positive options. Why didn’t the Dublin Transportation Office provide a cycle lane alongside the Green LUAS line?
Let’s get serious about bicycle use, and save our cities and our citizens from noxious polluting cars. – Yours, etc,
