Sir - One of the elements of hope that arose from the Good Friday Agreement was a plan by a number of primary schools in the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain for co-operation and exchange. Our two schools are writing a proposal for joint events during the coming academic year.
Supported by EU funding, there is enthusiasm and excitement that our pupils, staff and the wider school community may contribute in a small way to building confidence between our two countries. How sad it would be if, at this crucial stage in the political developments that arose from the detail of the agreement, the process were now to falter and the real opportunities for a brighter future for the younger people in our countries were lost - Yours, etc.,
Tadhg Mac Phaidin and Chris McDonnell, (Principals), Scoil Mhuire, Ballyboden, Dublin 16. Fulfen Primary School, Burntwood, Staffordshire.
