Changing minds on the HPV vaccination

Sir, – In light of the recent vaccination controversy and outbreaks of infectious diseases, I had a conversation with a patient of mine who said she would never give her daughter the HPV vaccine.

I asked her how would she answer her daughter, who, while dying from terminal cervical cancer, asked her, “Mum why didn’t you vaccinate me when I was a teenager?”

She changed her mind rapidly.

Parents who do not vaccinate their children are a danger to their offspring and society as a whole and should be held accountable. – Yours, etc,
