Carping at politicians

Sir, – Thank goodness for Stephen Collins (Opinion, January 12th)

Sir, – Thank goodness for Stephen Collins (Opinion, January 12th). I have found biased criticism, indeed sometimes criticism that is personal and vindictive, directed against the present Taoiseach and Government to be most unfair. It seems some correspondents have become arrogant and destructive in their opinions, in short they have lost the run of themselves.

They could learn lessons from Mr Collins and practise urbanity, fairness and decency. Most politicians are decent and hard-working. Our present Government did not create our present mayhem and should be given time before its efforts are dismissed with disdain. It took more than 10 years for one government to bring us to ruin. It will certainly take more than two years to lever us out of it. – Yours, etc,
