Bowling along in Blackrock

Sir, – In a competitive lawn bowls (Cassoni Cup) league match in Blackrock on Monday evening last, two players in direct opposition on their respective rinks were Blackrock’s Denis O’Callaghan (91) and Josh Whitney (14) of St James’s Gate.

While 77 years may or may not be the greatest age span to feature in competitive sport, it does show that lawn bowls, which is played on a level playing field, is surely a game for all the ages. – Yours, etc,
