Madam, – We were at the England v Ireland game in Twickenham on February 27th and were lucky enough (or so we thought) to be sitting in prime seats in the lower west stand.

Four England supporters to our right arrived carrying four pints of beer, and these may not have been their first. During the game they drank a further five pints each. Their language and hostility towards our team was not just palpable but frightening. When Tommy Bowe scored the try just below us they lost their cool and swore at the referee. They heckled during the conversion. After the final whistle, the English man on my left congratulated us on the win and apologised for their behaviour. So, referring to the boorish behaviour is not just in Ireland (Gerard O’Reilly, March 29th). How sad. I would never attend Twickenham again. – Yours, etc,
