ABORTION POLL REACTION

JOHN O'REILLY,

JOHN O'REILLY,

Sir, - Dr Mary Henry (April 10th) seems obsessed with aborting babies whose chances of survival outside the womb are minimal.

What is the point? The unfortunate baby will not survive birth by many hours. Why begrudge him/her the little time Nature has given?

The right to life implies that one may not be unjustifiably killed for the convenience of others. In cases of incest, Mr Henry implies that the State should be an accomplice in arranging the execution of an innocent party, long before our tardy judicial system has determined if such a crime ever took place.

And the real offender will not be executed - will probably not get more than five to six years in prison, with time off for good behaviour.

There is a grave and unjust imbalance in what Dr Henry proposes. - Yours, etc.,
