Trapped on the Dart

Luckily no one in our carriage was either ill or drunk

Sir, – Last week, I spent one and a half hours trapped on a Dart between Lansdowne Station and Grand Canal Dock. I do understand that, with any transport system, there will be faults and failures.

What I do not understand is the lack of communication regarding failures. The sound system between driver and passengers was broken, and there was not one scintilla of clear information in all that time as to what was happening. This issue is not new. Could someone please explain why it has to continue?

Luckily no one in our carriage was either ill or drunk, though as James Joyce would have put it, “the light music of whiskey falling into glasses” would have made an agreeable interlude. – Yours, etc,

MARY BUTTANSHAW,

Dalkey,

Co Dublin.
