Sir, – James Sheehan’s article (May 7th) where he outlines how he got three Irish hospitals built on time and on budget, is possibly the most important one printed this year. His 10-point plan, if adopted by those charged with overseeing large construction projects, could save this State billions of euro per year.
If the newspaper were to email a copy of his article to all the politicians in the Dáil, with a request for their observations and if they were asked what they intend to do about it, it might fill the comments page with a deluge of buck passing and the odd admission on how things need to change.
If the views of professional bodies that represent members in the construction industry were similarly sought, it might open up an interesting discussion. -Yours, etc,
BOBBY CARTY,
