Sir, – I was at the Aviva Stadium for the Ireland v Fiji rugby match last Saturday. The Irish supporters were very enthusiastic and eager to encourage their team, as was evident from the big Mexican wave.
What annoyed me, and others around me, was the recent introduction of music when there is an injury or a break in play. These natural intermissions used to give the crowd an opportunity to sing a song or to talk about the game.
Now the crowd cannot complete against the music from big speakers, and it is a shame and taking from the enjoyment of the game, for those present or watching on TV. What’s next from the IRFU? Adverts during a natural break in play? The American way? – Yours, etc,
