Sir, – In his one-sided argument, Michael McDowell eloquently puts forward the case for the landlord and conveniently ignores the predicament of the tenant (“Sinn Féin policy on housing is a step backwards” Opinion & Analysis, August 24th).
The landlord needs tax relief and the compliant tenant needs security of tenure.
Surely it can’t be beyond the ability of this Government to match these two needs in a quid pro quo agreement. – Yours, etc,
