Sir, – It was a monumental decision. In a long and wide-ranging speech, Éamon Ó Cuív announced he would do nothing and say nothing.

Sir, – For a short while, Éamon Ó Cuív was the political equivalent of Schrödinger’s Cat – simultaneously in and out of Fianna Fáil.Well, the cat has been well and truly belled. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Fianna Fáil has silenced a member of the party as he was advocating a No vote on the fiscal treaty. This country has arrived at its current situation through lack of transparency, accountability and considered, open discussion.
For the leader of Fianna Fáil to ask one of his TDs to stop openly discussing a significant event in this country is just unbelievable.
What is he afraid of? Isn’t it healthy to examine these significant issues openly? Is it not possible to have different opinions and still remain in the same party?
Watching Éamon Ó Cuív on the Tonight with Vincent Browne show refusing to discuss an issue that he was so passionate about reminded me of a censured country, made me embarrassed to be Irish and confirmed my desire never to return to the Fianna Fáil party. – Yours, etc,
