Thai police seek two bomb suspects after apartment raid

Police in Thailand have issued arrest warrants for two new suspects in a bomb attack two weeks ago that killed 20 people.

Police are searching for a 26-year-old Thai woman and a foreign man after a weekend search on an apartment in the Min Buri district uncovered fertiliser, digital watches and and remote-controlled cars whose parts can be used for detonation, a spokesman said.

National police chief Prawuth Thavornsiri said “these are bomb-making materials”.

Min Buri is near the neighbourhood where police on Saturday arrested an unnamed foreigner and seized a trove of bomb-making equipment that included detonators and ball bearings.

Mr Prawuth said Saturday the man’s nationality was still not known. He said “we are very certain he’s part of the network” that carried out the August 17th bombing at Bangkok’s Erawan Shrine that also left more than 120 injured.

Police may seek more arrest warrants, said Mr Thavornsiri.
