Exeter - Three teenagers got their hands dirty to win an international worm-charming championship yesterday. In a race against the clock Darren Hailey (19), Bradley Gerrard (15) and Sam Gates (15) plucked 124 worms from the ground in 15 minutes.
They come from Blackawton, the south Devon village where the championships have been held for the last 16 years, and entered under the name of the Blackawton Bulls.
One of the 24 competing teams, the Worm Wranglers, flew from Washington state in the US.
