Flights arriving into Irish airports from the United Kingdom have been seriously disrupted again today due to heavy fog of English airports.

Already this morning seven flights, including four incoming and three outgoing, have been cancelled at Dublin airport.

Freezing fog has forced the cancellation of more than 300 flights at London's Heathrow airport, which is having a knock-on effect in Ireland and other European airports.

All Irish airports are operating as normal, but passengers are advised to contact their airline for further information.

For the third day running, Heathrow is expected to be the worst hit, with more than 300 flights cancelled as air traffic controllers limited services because of the bad weather.

British Airways announced it was cancelling all today's domestic services in and out of Heathrow after cutting 200 flights yesterday. Heathrow's second-busiest airline, Bmi, has scrapped eight flights so far today on top of 40 cancellations yesterday.

Among the flights cancelled in Dublin this morning are incoming and outgoing Aer Lingus, Air France and Bmi British Midland routes to and from Heathrow and London City airports.

But while thousands of people are still stranded at the London airport, the majority of travellers in Dublin are on the move.

A spokeswoman for the Dublin Airport Authority, said people should arrive at the airport as planned.

More than one million passengers are expected to pass through Dublin airport during the Christmas holidays, with today earmarked as one of the busiest days of the year.
