Two men in their 80s were attacked during a Co Galway house burglary early today.

Two men in their 80s were attacked during a Co Galway house burglary early today.

Gardaí in Tuam have appealed for information on the aggravated robbery at a house in Ballyroe, Williamstown.

Both elderly men received minor injuries and held for more than three hours during the attack.

A small amount of cash was stolen during the raid and the men were later treated locally.

Two raiders entered the house at about 11 last night before leaving at about 2.30 this morning.

Gardaí believe the men had a knife and firearm. Both men were of medium build wearing balaclavas with dark clothes and runners.

An appeal for information on unusual or suspicious activity in the area around the time of the robbery or in the preceding days has been made by gardaí.
