Two men were arrested today over a robbery in Derry in which a middle-aged man was punched to the ground.

Two men were arrested today over a robbery in Derry in which a middle-aged man was punched to the ground.

The 19 and 34-year-olds were being questioned about an attack on the man in his mid-50s who was set upon on the Foyle Street area of the city at around 9.00pm last night.

The victim was walking down the street when he was attacked by one man and forced to the ground where a second man went through his pockets and took two mobile phones, said a police spokeswoman.

He suffered cuts to his face in the attack.

Policed appealed for any witnesses to the incident to contact them.
