Summer means festivals and with the season about to get underway in earnest, a bit of guidance is always welcome.

Like other Irish festivals before it, the Galway Arts Festival has released its own app to help you navigate the entertainment and ensure you don’t miss out on your favourite acts. And considering the featival hosted more than 200 acts last year, you’ll certainly need it. From the programme of events to where to sleep and eat, everything you need to know is right in the palm of your hand.

You can browse the various events, from comedy and theatre to visual art and talks. The news section follows the festival’s Twitter account, while the section dealing with venues will use your phone’s location services to guide you to theatres, galleries and even the festival box office.

You can share your favourite events on Twitter, Facebook or through e-mail directly from the app.

It also includes a little background on the festival itself, and some useful information on the city.

The two-week festival kicks off on July 11th.
