A soldier in Dundalk has received a property tax bill for a barracks in Dublin.

The bill was for Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, and it listed the serving member of the Defence Forces as being the “owner or person liable”for the tax.

The Department of Defence confirmed “the barracks is owned by this department,” while the Defence Forces press office directed queries to the Revenue Commissioners who issued the estimate.

It is understood the soldier, who was once based at the Dublin barracks, is stationed in Aiken Barracks in Dundalk.
