The pedestrian who died on Thursday after being hit by a car in Co Louth was last night named as Mr Robert Hamilton (53), from Kilnacran, Co Monaghan.

Mr Hamilton was walking in the Rahanna area, close to Ardee, at 9.15 p.m. when the accident occurred. He was taken to our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he later died.

A motorcyclist has also died following a road accident at approximately 11.45 a.m. yesterday in north Dublin.

The deceased, who has yet to be named, was hit by a lorry at the entrance to Huntstown Quarry on the main Dublin-Derry road (N2), just north of Finglas.
