Cross-channel Review:Shane Long's winner for Reading sent Liverpool crashing out of the FA Cup tonight when they came from behind for a 2-1 victory after extra time in their third-round replay at Anfield. In the night's other Cup game Newcastle were comfortable 3-0 winners over Plymouth.

Reading, who are struggling in the Championship were losing 1-0 with 30 seconds remaining before Gylfi Sigurdsson converted the coolest of penalties four minutes into stoppage time.

There was little argument with the penalty after Yossi Benayoun made a clumsy challenge.

Republic of Ireland’s Long glanced home Reading's winner – the club’s first at Anfield - in the 10th minute of extra time to give them a stunning victory and a fourth-round tie at Burnley.

Liverpool had taken the lead in stoppage time at the end of the first half when Ryan Bertrand deflected a Steven Gerrard cross into his own net.

Danish striker Peter Lovenkrands scored a hat-trick to help Newcastle United beat Plymouth 3-0 in their FA Cup third-round replay at St James' Park.

Lovenkrands scored for Newcastle after 10, 40 and 72 minutes to set up a fourth-round tie with West Bromwich Albion.

In Scotland David Goodwillie grabbed the only goal of the game as Dundee United picked up their first win in the Scottish Premier League since Craig Levein quit for the Scotland job.

For long spells, the match at Hamilton - which was initially claimed by the weather back on December 19th - did not appear to be worth the wait.

But Goodwillie netted the winner late on to rescue the meeting with Accies from being a drab goalless affair - and handed caretaker boss Peter Houston his first victory in the SPL.
