Commuters travelling on train services to and from Heuston Station in Dublin are likely to experience serious delays this evening, after a man was killed on the rail line earlier.

The man was killed when he was struck by the 2.40 p.m. train from Dublin to Galway shortly before 3 p.m. today between Hazelhatch and Sallins.

All InterCity and commuter services to and from Heuston were stopped for an hour and a half as emergency services attended the scene.

The rail line has reopened, but delays are expected to affect all services to and from Heusotn during this evening's rush hour.
