Police investigate shooting of father, son

A father and son have been injured in a shooting during an attack on their Co Tyrone home, police said today.

A father and son have been injured in a shooting during an attack on their Co Tyrone home, police said today.

The householder was confronted by a gang of men when he answered a knock at the front door of his home at Derryvale Road, Dungannon at about 10 p.m. last night.

The gang forced their way into the house and an argument ensued during which a shotgun was allegedly discharged, said a police spokesman.

The man suffered minor head injuries and his adult son a broken arm and cheekbone.

The shotgun was taken from the house and a search has been mounted to try and recover it.

The police spokesman said the incident was not believed to be sectarian or terrorist related.
