Gardaí in Limerick are treating petrol bomb attacks on two houses in the Moyross estate early yesterday morning as feud-related. Both houses were in the Delmege Park area and were occupied at the time. There were no injuries.

One of the houses petrol-bombed shortly after midnight was the family home of a gangland murder victim, Frankie Ryan. The other, targeted just minutes later, was the home of a 20-year-old close associate of Frankie Ryan. Both homes suffered some fire damage in the arson attacks.

Gardaí investigating the attacks believe they were linked to the ongoing feud in Limerick which has claimed six lives in the past six years. One of the theories being explored is that the bombings were carried out by associates of the gang which ordered the murder of Frankie Ryan. Ryan was shot in the head by a gunman last September as he sat in a car in the Pineview Gardens Moyross.

A 23-year-old man, Gary Campion, also from Moyross, has been charged with Ryan's murder and is currently in custody awaiting trial.
