Party has `Nazi characteristics'

Berlin - The Chancellor, Mr Gerhard Schroder, yesterday supported the banning of the extreme-right National Democratic Party, which the federal government says has "Nazi characteristics", writes Derek Scally. A new government report shows a 20 per cent rise in extreme-right incidents in Germany this year, with 1,112 in August alone, almost double the previous monthly average.
