Brian McIver has stepped down as Donegal manager following last night's 2-12 to 1-7 All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Monaghan.

Brian McIver has stepped down as Donegal manager following last night's 2-12 to 1-7 All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Monaghan.

McIver, who took over the reins from Brian McEniff in September 2005, led Donegal to the All-Ireland quarter-finals last year.

In April, McIver guided Donegal to their first National League title.
