A jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has been discharged after failing to reach a verdict in the trial of a man for intimidation of a woman in relation to a rented house in the west of the city.

Mr James Ryan (51), with an address at South Circular Road, Rialto and formerly of Coultry Road, Ballymun had pleaded not guilty to the charge during his five day trial.

He denied that on May 25th, 2002 he wrongfully and with without lawful authority he used violence and intimidated Mrs Margaret Doyle and members of her family at Glenfield Drive, Clondalkin with a view to compelling her to abstain from doing an act which she had a lawful right to do.

The jury deliberated on its verdict for just over four-and-a-half hours before telling the court it was deadlocked and would be unable to return either a unanimous or a majority decision.
