There are as yet no reports of Irish fatalities or serious injuries in yesterday’s bomb attacks on London, the Department of Foreign Affairs has said.

However, calls are still coming in to the Irish embassy in London and to the Department’s emergency phone lines in Dublin from people concerned about relatives and friends.

A spokesman for the department could not confirm the volume of calls received in the past 24 hours, but said there had been "a good deal".

The emergency section at the Irish embassy in London is taking calls from UK residents, and a freephone number has been set up at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin.
