David Bowie has cancelled the remaining performances of his European tour including an appearance at the Oxegen festival in Punchestown due to a trapped nerve in his shoulder.

A statement on Bowie's official website, www.davidbowie.com, said today the singer had been advised by his doctors to cancel the 11 performances scheduled for July.

"Due to the unpredictable nature of the condition and in an effort to give fans as much warning as possible... David very reluctantly agreed to take the advice," the statement said.

Bowie, 57, was forced to cut short a concert in Prague last Wednesday, telling the crowd he had nerve problems in his shoulder.
