The Mater hospital in Dublin has asked members of the public to avoid visiting due to an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

In a statement, the hospital said that the general public should not visit unless absolutely necessary due to the “highly contagious” Noravirus outbreak.

The request is in place until further notice.
