A teenage girl died today after being struck by a car in Co Kildare.
The incident occurred on the Celbridge to Leixlip road shortly before 5pm close to an Applegreen service station on the Celbridge interchange.
The girl (16) was seriously injured when she was struck by the car. She was later pronounced dead at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was not injured.
A Garda spokesman said the crash was being treated as a tragic accident.
