Ghana's national premier league will resume on June 7th, nearly a month after being suspended following a stadium stampede in which 126 people died, the Ghana Football Association said today.

The league was put on hold on May 10th after a game between Accra's local heroes Hearts of Oak and arch-rivals Asante Kotoko turned into Africa's worst soccer disaster.

National champions Hearts of Oak are due to play Liberty Professionals on June 7th. Further premier league matches will be played on June 10th.

Police were widely blamed for triggering the stampede by firing tear gas into a packed stadium in the capital.
