Gardaí in Dublin are investigating a shooting incident this morning.
It is understood a man approached a 63-year-old man at his home in Killester and fired a gun, which jammed.
No further information was available, gardaí said.
Local Labour Party councillor Aodhán Ó Ríordáin said the area where the attack took place was an extremely quiet residential area and the actions that took place there this morning were "absolutely outrageous".

"It is clear now that under the Government's watch, a new generation of gun-welding criminals are operating with impunity with no respect for life or law and order," he said.
Mr Ó Ríordáin said he condemned the attack "absolutely" and urged anyone with any information to assist gardaí with their inquiries.
