Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery on a petrol station in Clane, Co.Kildare, this morning. The robbery happened on the Celbridge Rd shortly before 10.30am.

Two masked raiders entered the shop attached to the station and held up staff with what appeared to be a handgun.

The raiders escaped in a red Seat Inca van which was fitted with false registration plates. Gardaí believe the vehicle was stolen on the 10th of February in Maynooth.

The raiders wore black clothing and are described as male, of medium build and approx 5'10" in height.

The van was abandoned a short distance away and it is thought the raiders may have left in a Red
Toyota land Cruiser.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and who might have noticed anything unusual or who may have seen either of the vehicles to contact the gardaí in Clane.
