Gardaí from Dublin's Coolock station have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road crash on the Malahide Road, Coolock, to contact them.

A motorcycle collided with a car at about 3.45 pm yesterday, and the man (35) who was riding the motorcycle died at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Garda at Coolock on 01-6664200.

Elsewhere, a man (35) who was involved in a single-vehicle crash on the M7 near Naas last Saturday morning died in hospital last night.

The man was travelling north on the M7 at Newhall, Co Kildare, when he crashed into the central barrier. A postmortem is being carried out today.

The death toll on Irish roads to date this year now stands at 247, compared to 232 on the same day last year.
