A man taking a private prosecution alleging a garda committed perjury has prepared his own book of evidence for the DPP, a court heard yesterday.

Troy Cremin (27), Ardarrig, Douglas, Cork, accuses Det Garda John Joseph Riordan of perjuring himself in a separate case against Mr Cremin in Cloverhill District Court, Dublin, last July.

He also alleges the offence of barratry in that the action taken against him on that date was groundless and vexatious.

Dublin District Court heard yesterday that Mr Cremin's lawyer had provided a book of evidence to Garda Riordan and to the DPP last Thursday.

The DPP asked for time to consider the book and a solicitor for Garda Riordan said they had no objection to a further adjournment.

A solicitor for the State said yesterday that only the DPP could make a return for trial to the Circuit Court and therefore time was needed to consider the book that had been furnished.

Judge Collins adjourned the case to September 20th.
