Kerry captain Paul Galvin sounded a note of remorse this evening in the wake of yesterday's controversial sending off against Clare.

Having picked up a second yellow to receive his marching orders in the 54th minute, a clearly frustrated Galvin slapped referee Paddy Russell's notebook out of his hand and proceeded to remonstrate with the linesman before making his way from the field.

A contrite Galvin, who is unlikely to escape further sanction should the incident be included in Russell's report, today accepted his actions had been 'clearly wrong'.

"The exact details of what happened I don't really want to get into because I don't think this is the right place, there's a relative body that will deal with that," the Finuge man told RTE's Six One news.

"Clearly what happened was wrong and I was out of order to do what I did. I regret what I did," he added.  "I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to the match officials, to the management of Kerry and my team-mates and particularly the Kerry supporters who I feel like I've let down."

Galvin is now looking at a possible ban of up to three months following the incident. Should Russell cite him for physical interference of an official, his next championship appearance could be the All-Ireland final itself, assuming of course the defending champions are involved at the business end of the season.
