Three men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the murder of a father of two who was killed as he tried to prevent a gun attack on the home of a family friend in July last year.

Wayne Doherty (32) was shot dead on the street outside his parents’ house at Oakview Way, Hartstown, west Dublin, at 11.30pm on Saturday, July 4th, 2009. His body was removed to James Connolly Hospital where he died the next morning.

Gardaí believe the fatal shooting may have been linked to a row at a christening party in a pub in Co Meath earlier in the day.

This morning, gardaí arrested three men, two in their late teens and one in his 20s, and a woman aged in her 40s.
