GAA: Davy Fitzgerald is set to remain as Waterford hurling manager for a second term - his first full season - with the decision expected to be rubber-stamped at a county board meeting on Monday night.
The former Clare goalkeeper took charge of the Deise in June, replacing Justin McCarthy who left in controversial circumstances, before guiding them to the All-Ireland final where they lost heavily to three-in-a-row champions Kilkenny.
It was the first time Waterford reached the All-Ireland final in 45 years.
In a strange twist Fitzgerald now looks set to face McCarthy's Limerick in the Munster SHC semi-final after the latter took up the new post earlier in the week.
"It will be a very hard game for Waterford, whoever is in charge of them," said Fitzgerald earlier in the week.
"Limerick will be unhappy with the way they played last year and with Justin as manager they will have added motivation.
"Justin will certainly want to get a big performance out of them because he left Waterford in controversial circumstances."
